Wind Data Validation in Peru: How Calibration Cut Model Bias

The Peruvian coast is a demanding test for any wind model. In collaboration with Acciona, Vortex validated its TIMES long-term wind series against 10-minute measurements from three coastal met masts. The masts cover heights from 20 to 80 m and three to four years of data. Each dataset was split into a calibration period and an independent validation period. All results are measured on data the model never saw.

The report compares original TIMES with TIMES Remodeling, Vortex’s built-in MCP method, across wind speed, direction, standard deviation and turbulence intensity.
